Working in conjunction with Mumbles Flooring, we were asked to lay new flooring to a domestic bathroom in the Mumbles area of Swansea. The sub floor was wood, so first we had to overlay using 6mm SP101 plywood, which is recommended for vinyl tile products due to the stability of it and also shrinkage. This is secured with 20mm staples and then the ply is primed, before a tight coat of feather finish is applied to alleviate any gaps and pockets in the floor. The lower area was concrete, so we also laid a self-levelling compound to create a smooth finish. We then laid a Vista wood plank designer tile with a single grout strip between each plank to create a ship deck finish. We finished off the step area with an aluminium angle trim, which is also available in gold.
